Medieval tales. A journey at the fortified churches of Transylvania

I have always loved castles and citadels. Who doesn’t, actually ☺. The older the castle, the more magical the tale. And it so happens that Romania has quite some very special ones.

Those are the medieval fortified churches from Transylvania, built by the Germanic population named Saxons between centuries XIII and XVI. Many of those are UNESCO World Heritage monuments. Valea Viilor church And a lot of them too. 150 well preserved churches out of more than 300 villages registered with fortified churches.

Some time ago, many years before becoming a Dreamstime contributor, I made a photographic journey at some of these churches....
