Jasper is the largest rocky mountain national park in Canada. Lying along the eastern slope of the rockies, this park is surrounded by the British Columbia's Mount Robson on the west, and the Banff national park on the south. Since it's pretty convenient to get there from the city edmonton (350 km, 3.5 hours drive), I have visited this beautiful park for many times. The following pictures show some typical scenes around the jasper town. From left to right: 1, This is the bird view of the jasper town from the mountain whistler. it can be reached by tramway or hiking if you wish (2.5 hours to to summit). The town is small, in winter it has maybe only 3000 people, but in summer (hot season for tourism, June to September), the population can be more than 30,000 people...!!! 2, Spring view ... Hiking alone in mountains is a very special experience. Few years ago I visited the jasper national park in Alberta, Canada, and had a wonderful hiking memory in the mountain Edith Cavell. The most common hiking trail in that area is the lakeshore trail, which is only about 1.5km long. Sure the glacier lake is already a good vantage point for normal visitors, however more experienced hikers always challenge their skills (or seek better scenes) in more difficult trails. The cavell meadow trail is a moderate choice. It is about 5-6 km long and gradually leading to another hill beside of the mountain edith cavell. The trailside meadow shows typical beautiful rocky landscape, green meadow, flowers and wildlife. Eventually the trail climbs over the tree line where no more plants can survive,... [ Read more... ]

I like hiking a lot, especially in canadian rocky mountain area. One of the most unforgettable moments in rockies is about the glacier lake on the toe of mountain edith cavell, jasper national park, Alberta, Canada. During the winter this area is all covered by snow and ice of course. In summer, a 1.5 km long hiking trail leads to the re-open lake shore. However, even in the hottest summer, this blue lake is full with icebergs. The icy bank of the lake is very interesting, it shows some very nice laces . The reason of that is because every year during the summer rocks and stones from the mountain fall down to the glacier surface, and then the winter snow adds another layer to the top of rocks. Years after years, this "ice-cream cake" is finally made.... [ Read more... ]

Mountain Edith Cavell has its name from a British nurse. Edith Louisa Cavell was a nurse during World War I. She cared for the wounded soldiers of both sides, and she also helped over 200 allied soldiers escape. In 1915, She was arrested on charges of espionage and executed by a firing squad. Later, she became known as the "martyr nurse". To remember her courage, Canada decided to give her name to the grandest mountain in the Athabasca Valley of Jasper national park, Alberta, Canada. This is the far looks of the mountain. There is a hiking trail called "path of the glacier" that travels through a rocky glacial basin to the toe of the Mountain Edith cavell. A glacier lake is located right in there. The lake's water is normally highlighted by ... [ Read more... ]

One day when I was hiking in the whitemud park, I found this cute little squirrel. At first he was wondering, "who's coming?"... After he found out that I had no intention to steal his foods, then this fella started enjoying... It must be a happy moment I am sure... It took me several minutes to get all pictures, then I decided to leave. In this moment, there was another hiker showed up, this cute squirrel appeared very alert, suddenly turned around, seemed to say, "what happened?" This is the story of my little friend.

Tofino is a beautiful small town in the Pacific rim national park in Vancouver island. I have been there twice and had many unforgettable memories about that. I'd like to share some pictures to reveal its beauty. The first picture shows the view from a dock in tofino, blue sea and all surrounding islands. The second picture is about a beach in Tofino... it's so quiet and peaceful... I will continue to introduce more about my travel once I have time.
