Personally, I find a lot of the articles in Digital Photo magainze to be very helpful. You can find the magazine in most bookstores, or online at: http://www.photographymags.co.uk/ - posted by Kenneystudios on September 14, 2007
Check out the Utilities section (under the Resources tab on the top) - there are some really nice books you can order in paper copies. I also just recently wrote about one that I have here: Finding Inspiration (Part 3). On-line you might want to check the well discussed lately Strobist here: http://strobist.blogspot.com/ - very good info on lighting. - posted by Petarneychev on September 13, 2007

Another anniversary of a very sad day in History. When innocent people lost their lives.

At this moment I want to thank and commend all the photographers who took many of the touch images. Images that will continue to remind us an haunt us.

Homage to Pavarotti     posted on 10th of september, 2007

I would like to take this space to pay Homage to Luciano Pavarotti. The man who brought opera to the masses. Only once in a while such great artist are born, people whose art goes out to touch lives.

Though I never understood the operas, his voice had the power to go beyond words and meanings. The power to revive the lost souls.

My favorite song of Pavarotti, is a duet with my other favorite singer Celine Dion "I hate you, then I love you". Every time I listen to it I am in tears.

Luciano Pavarotti will continue to remain in our heart and souls and continue to touch our live every time we listen to his songs.

VIVA PAVAROTTI

How to become a professional photographer     posted on 24th of august, 2007

I have an old SLR camera not digital. The digital camera I have is not an SLR but a Fuji Fine Pix 4 mega pixel. Can my pictures taken on this camera be considered as good to be uploaded. Do I need to have an expensive camera. Does the kind of equipment I have make a good photographer. Please tell me.

My advice, no matter what camera model you use, is to: Keep the ISO setting as low as possible for the lighting, as this will keep color noise and film grain appearance as low as possible; Unless your light settings are phenomenally bright, use a tripod for steadiness; when in doubt, use a tripod; to further help with steadiness to reduce blurring, get a remote switch for your camera so you don't even have to touch the camera to take a picture while it is on the tripod. Also, the lower your mega pixels, the closer you should crop to your subject so you don't have to crop later, possibly making the photo too small to be accepted. I hope you get the advice you were looking for! - posted by Kenneystudios on August 24, 2007
Hi Jose, It's not the equipment that makes a good or not so good photographer, it's the knowledge and how you apply it in the "making" of the picture. However, equipment it's very important when the specs to be met are very tight: low noise, high resolution, sharp etc. If you look at the 18 pictures on the home page here on DT, you will see that only one has a 3.3 MP picture, in the "to be discovered section", with 0 downloads (ID:625491, as the page changes periodically). On my opinion, it's a beautiful picture, great lighting, dynamic composition, however nobody wanted until now. Is it just the size? Not sure. That's my two cents. Go ahead and start clicking and try to upload only pictures that are in high demand. You can still have your films scanned and loaded here though... - posted by Fotogeek on August 24, 2007
They say equipment doesnt make a good photograpger. Although it helps. It reminds me of the saying 'money doesn't matter". But it surely helps. You can surely take good shots with FujiFine 4MP, why not? I have some photos in my collection taken with Kodak DX7440 4MP. It's just the matter of control U have over your shooting, your lens performance. I am sure, with the time, you will know exactly what U need to improve and upgrade. - posted by Sebcz on August 24, 2007

Which is the best Anti-virus     posted on 20th of august, 2007

Hi,

I would like to know which is a good anti-virus for a PC. I used to have Norton but i had some problems so i switched to AVG. Now I have more problems. Another friend has suggested that Macafee is the best. So now i am totally confused. Please help with some suggestions.

AVG is the best free antivirus program for PC, IMHO. They have a good helpdesk and forum. Sad it don't work for you. I love it. It updates automatically and I have caught many viruses in a run while browsing the net. I have had it some years for now and haven't had any problems. It needed only a little bit fine tuning in the beginning, and til then it just works. As opposite to some popular and expencive software pieces (sorry, Bill!), what just don't do what they suppose to do. And helpdesk writes, we haven't fix it yet cause most users don't use that feature anyway. Well... but AVG is great. And, no, I don't work for them. :) Wish I could help you somehow. - posted by Maigi on August 20, 2007
Hello from Buseck in Germany. I have tried many anti-virus-programs. Since a few months I use the G-Date Antivirus-Pack. This works with two engines and I am very satisfied. But I heard, that Norton is also very effectiv. Additional to my installed anti-virus-programm and the firewall I use periodical the Trend-Micro-housecall. This is a online-anti-virus-check for free and they have always the most current virus-signatures. Greetings Peter - posted by Photosaurus on August 20, 2007
I use Norton. Make sure to get a package with Spyware protection, though. You can get a great deal for only $80 that protects your email, all harddrives, blocks spyware, and hunts down any viruses or spyware that may already be on your computer. About a year ago, I was having MAJOR computer problems. Some sort of Spyware got into my system. Even when the computer was idle, my desktop would get riddled with marketing icons and annoying popups. Only hours after installing Norton, all of my problems were gone. Haven't had a problem since. - posted by Kenneystudios on August 20, 2007

Illustrator CS3     posted on 17th of august, 2007

I have been using Illustrator for over 10 years and i got AI CS3 about a week back. I am very thrilled with all the new features. Most of all the Colour Guide tool. I have been freaking out with this tool. Earlier you had to physically check the harmony in the colour harmony book etc. Now this makes it so easy. My clients are very thrilled too with the colour combinations. Three cheers to the AI team.
