Connecting Creativity & Commerce     posted on 31st of october, 2007

Stock is a business based on creativity. Knowing what subjects to shoot and how to diversify your collection is paramount to creating a good income from stock photography.

At the recent PhotoPlus in New York City, I was privileged to be on the "Do It Yourself Creative Research" panel. My approach was to discuss how to do creative research when the photographer may not have the benefit of working with a larger agency that provides trend data and shoot lists. I also look at keywords as the "real estate" of the stock industry.

Here's the presentation.

i somehow agree with Clemente, most of the time your images are rejected for absurd reasons...but i think people who are selecting images either have to select some and reject some...or they are getting too many images..so they just select randomly...but most of the time images with flat lighting and white or light background get selected,[imgl]http://www.dreamstime.com/time-to-save-money-image7182252[/imgl] - posted by Kaphoto on December 09, 2008

I went off the deep end and submitted a photo that was a lot different on the style I do but I thought it may be useful for something, and it was accepted. it is definitely outside the tent for me I will be curious how it sales......Paul
