Baha’i Shrine     posted on 12th of october, 2007

The world headquarters of the Baha’i faith is located in the city of Haifa, Israel. The faith of Baha’i preaches the unity of all world religions and believes that Moses, Jesus, Buddha and Mohammed were all fundamentally bearers of the same message. There are about 4 million followers of this faith worldwide. Baha’i was founded in Persia by the prophet El Bab who was executed in 1850 because of his preaching.

The shrine itself is magnificent, and is adorned by the most carefully manicured gardens. The gardens provide a wonderfully shady place to rest.

Mozambique in Africa     posted on 6th of september, 2007

I am the editor of a magazine in South Africa called Voyage of the Planet. No, this is not another travel mag. The publication features world issues and focuses specially on archaeology and culture.

Since I love writing, I try to publish an article in the magazine each issue and the search for a story often leads me to interesting places and offer memorable experiences. This photograph of the boys in Mozambique has a story too.

I traveled to Ponta Do Ouro in the south of Mozambique for scuba diving. It's a town situated on the east coast of Africa. You find an abundance of sea life and coral reefs in the seas of the area. The little town has no tar roads and quite densely populated by Portuguese speaking people. They are poor and illiteracy is a common phenomenon....

Camel in Jerusalem     posted on 1st of august, 2007

I have visited Israel twice now. Both times for a month. Not for any religious aspirations, but to experience the archaeology and history of the country.

Israel offers diversity in many respects, including its people and landscapes. Drom the Negev Desert in the south to the forests and abundant water to the north at the foot of the Lebanon mountains.

I wanted to get onto the Mount of Olives which overlooks the Temple Mound to get a good shot of Jerusalem, when I encountered an Arab who had just arrived at the same spot. The camel was not very happy to be there and moaned many times.

The photograph captures one of the camel's moments of displeasure perfectly.

Although not very frequently found in the city, Arabs still use camels as a mode of transport....

Yes, I did not see many camels around the city. Interesting thing that I heard from a Bedouin while I was staying in the Negev Desert is that it costs about $3 per day to keep a camel... know if this is true? - posted by Jca on September 07, 2007
Awesome shot! :) You really don't see many camels wandering around Jerusalem these days. - posted by Odelia on August 03, 2007
