So I got my new camera a few days ago and I love it! I ended up getting it with the kit lens which really is not as bad as people say it is, as long as you stop it down a bit. I bought it refurbished from Adorama, they said it would arrive in 7-10 days, but it took only 3! So I was very pleased with them. I am putting some shots in the pending queue so hopefully they will be online soon!

probably cause I am :) Coming from a powershot sd1000 it is a huge step up, I can set the focus where ever I want, and can even get the DOF that I want, it is soo much nicer, not to mention the fact that there is like no noise at iso 100 to 200, compared to everything being pretty noisy on my powershot. - posted by

Next week I am finally going to buy a DSLR, and I can't wait! For now I have been shooting with a point & shoot, and while it takes decent pictures, it takes a lot of post processing work to get them up to par with the reviewer's standards. I am getting a Canon Rebel XT (350D) used from a person on craigslist. I also am going to pick up the Canon EF 50mm f1.8 lens as my first lens for it.

Great! You'll love the 350D...and that's a good little lens too. I have both and love them. - posted by

Shoot RAW from the start. It's easier than you think, and the processing is easier and has more latitude than jpeg. Life has not been the same since I started shooting RAW in 2005. All the nasty jpeg headaches gone, no more artifacting, etc. Have fun with the new cam. You will enjoy it. - posted by

I'm still new here, and being a full time student unfortunately does not leave me that much time to shoot stock photography. One thing that has helped me is figuring out what buyers want. There are many good ways to do this, mainly by looking at the top sellers for the month, but what helps me is to try and think like a designer. Now, the tricky part is that all designers don't think or work alike so that makes it difficult, some like premade backgrounds that they can add text to, others like to take objects from multiple images and combine them together, the possibilities are endless. One person I knew that used stock imagery pretty much always would buy already complete designs, then add text elements into them. So do I know what sells? No, not ... [ Read more... ]

Like Cmarshall717 said you never know what it might sell. I have on other site for sell a wood fence it sells like crazy. I was driving back home from an estimate and I saw this fence in front of a dumpster.I drove like 2 miles and I decided to go back and take a picture of it. It is amazing me how many people are interested in buying it. My opinion is if something is catching your eye while you're doing something else that is something worthed to give a try. - posted by

I agree, too. You never really know. I thought I had some pretty decent images. But, for some reason, one of my biggest DLs is of a silly chandelier hanging in the ceiling. Every time that one DLs, I have to laugh! Go figure! - posted by

I agree 100%. Sometimes an image that you think is really great will be rejected as not suitable for stock photography and other times something sells that you really kind of took a chance on uploading and knew it wasn't one of your best. Very hard to figure out. All I can say is, keep uploading! Like the old saying, throw everything against the wall, and see what sticks. - posted by
