Approaching 200th Sale     posted on 4th of september, 2009

Rather than writing about having 200 sales, I thought it’d be fun to think of what I could have done differently so that rather than having 200 sales, I could have been approaching my 500th sale. You know, the “woulda, coulda, shoulda”s.

The first thought that comes to mind, of course, was the reckless uploading in the beginning. The rejections were more than just rejections, if you know what I mean. It’s not so much that one of my images didn’t get accepted, it was more like rubbing failure in my face.

I believe if I had been more selective in the beginning and perhaps tested out what kinds of images are accepted and what kinds get rejected, my approval rating would have been much better. In addition, it would help with my confidence earlier...

I agree with you that I wish I had been more selective in the beginning. Now I am trying to motivate myself to upload more QUALITY photos...I just seem to procrastinate! After reading your comments I have decided to do better and at least upload weekly! I do love the stock rank game - it really helps figure out what is being looked for in a stock image. - posted by Jmphoto on September 08, 2009
Thanks Py2000 and Lectere.

I totally agree with you Brad and Wildmac. It's certainly a good idea for newbies to start off with the stock rank game before submitting any images. It'd save everyone a lot of grief. :)

I made the same mistake as you at the beginning. I didn't know what was acceptable but I jumped straight in and uploaded heaps of rejects in my first upload. I think it's probably a very common trap for people who are totally new to microstock. Things are getting much better now, thanks to the game and browsing through the database myself to see what sells. My advice to newbies would be take it easy with your 1st few uploads until you get a feel for the site and what sells. Cheers :0) - posted by Wildmac on September 04, 2009
