Reuse Your Images Multiple Times     posted on 12th of march, 2008

With a little bit of Photoshop magic, you can reuse the same image to create several different scenes with various different feels. By isolating objects and using parts of otherwise unusable images, you can create great pictures from nothing. Check out these lighthouse pictures for example.

That has worked really well for me. I also save some photoshop isolations and reuse them on different backgrounds. - posted by Irisangel on March 12, 2008

Think Green!     posted on 20th of january, 2008

High-efficiency compact fluorescent light bulbs are sure to save you money in the long run and are sure to make a positive impact on the environment as well. Sure, they cost more than traditional light bulbs, but they can last ten times as long and are about five times more energy efficient than incandescent bulbs. I recommend to all of you dreamstimers to do your part and to pick up a few of these. Just think what a difference it would make if every household replaced just one of their commonly used light bulbs with one!

Also, if you get the daylight balanced ones, and a set of cheap desk lamps, novice shooters can set up a little mini studio for next to nothing in cost. You don't get that yellow tungsten cast like regular room lights. It really works. Great if you want to try out some still life work but don't have much cash to work with for gear. - posted by Niagaragirl on January 22, 2008
Great idea. One I have just done. It does make a difference. - posted by Kittycat on January 21, 2008

Black History Month     posted on 1st of january, 2008

Now that the New Year is under our belts, with February just around the corner it's time for designers to begin planning for Black History Month, an annual celebration that has existed since 1926. I've come up with a logo for this month, incorporating the continent of Africa into the shape of a heart, symbolizing pride and love for the African heritage and all that African-Americans have achieved.

Choosing Contest Winners     posted on 11th of december, 2007

Any of you Dreamstimers wonder or know how contest winners are chosen? Is it by number of views, downloads, or just plain discretion? I currently have an image in the "Time" contest which conveys the concept of having "too much time on our hands."

There are basically three stages involved in the assignment submissions process. First stage is the submission stage when all contributors who want to participate submit images. The second stage is the voting stage when submission period is closed and the users get to vote their favourite. In stage three, last stage, votings are closed and the winner is announced. So, the winning image is decided by users, after a certain voting period. - posted by Tangie on December 12, 2007
I think it is by the average of votations....however for me your photo is the best in this assignment!! - posted by Myper on December 12, 2007

Too much Time On Your Hands?     posted on 29th of november, 2007

Got too much time on your hands? Lately, I find that I don't have nearly enough. I've been working 17 hour days and I wish I had more time to myself. I hope it all pays off eventually. Hopefully you find just the opposite. In case you do, take a few more pictures and toy around in Photoshop a little more. A little bit of time on your hands can go a long way!

World Series     posted on 24th of october, 2007

It should be interesting to see who walks away from the field as World Series champions this year. Will it be the Rockies or the Red Socks? Regardless, baseball seems to be a major pastime in American culture and can't seem to be escaped, especially not in October. Here's to all of you dreamstimers who have bets riding on this series or who just love baseball! Cheers!

    About Me
John Sternig (Jsternig)
West Bend, US

First of all I want to thank you for your interest in my gallery. Over the past ten or so years I have deeply enjoyed producing art on the computer and found a great sense of satisfaction in doing so. In high school, however, I found an interest in computer programming as well. Having moved on to college I found that I really enjoyed working with computers and put my dreams of being a graphic designer on the backburner in order to pursue a career that would pay me back the most for my time and effort. Over the course of the next two years, however, I found myself working long hours and finding a lack of satisfaction and pride in my work. Frustrated and trying to realize my dreams as college quickly moved by, I decided once again to pursue my dreams of being an artist. Having never taken a formal art class, I suprised my professors and peers, but most importantly myself, with my artistic skills and talents, and found that I enjoyed both graphic design and fine art. Having lived in Florence, Italy for a semester and having experienced all that this romantic city had to offer, I have gained a deep respect for the art of the past but look forward to producing art for the future. At this point in my life I can say that I am the most satisfied that I have ever been and, although I have much to learn in my final year of schooling, I feel that I have made the right choices and I hope that my art can reach out to the world and be enjoyed by others. Thank you again for taking the time to look at my gallery and to find out more about me. I truly appreciate your support!

Sincerely, John
