My Photo Story -- The Most Popular Image of Mine     posted on 29th of july, 2008

Here is my most popular image, not my most satisfied one but the most popular one. It illustrates that saling a pic well or not depends on the wants of designers but not the favors of photographers. So browsing through the best selling images online is very helpful for photographers to understand the wants of designers. And remember, imitation is the start of study.

Improve Your Acceptance Ratio     posted on 21st of july, 2008

Low acceptance ratio is tormenting and confusing for many newbies, just like i say in another article"Low Acceptance Ratio". After so many experiences and failures, I have a little idea for improving acceptance ratio.

First of all, you should estimate the value of you photo just before you shoot it. That means you must take photograph more thoughtfully and carefully. So that quality of your pics can be ensured.

Selecting pics is another important step. After a hard work for shooting pictures, you might be reluctant to give up any single one of them. But you have to realize and admit that some of them will not be accepted. The correct thing what you should do is finding ...

I have to admit I was somewhat frustrated when my first photo was shot down in flames and I was told my lens quality was poor but I am at the same time appreciative of what I will take away from the expierience and maybe I will improve down the road. Thanks for the most excellent information. - posted by Dreamcatcher837 on August 20, 2008
And of course, don't forget to carefully explore your pictures at full size (100% zoom), looking for unwanted brands, trademarks, recognizable humans, and focus issues. Also, if you upload a model photo, be careful of having your MR form correctly filled. I once had a picture rejected because my model didn't had a witness while filling it up. Problem was... she is 900km away now. Cheers! - posted by Moonwalker on July 30, 2008
Good points Max, Brad & Matt. In addition it's helpful to review DT for photos that may be too similar or already well covered. My latest two rejections were for the following - "This is a very well covered subject in our data base or the subject of your image is too specific." How many kinds of reasons have you received about refused files? Did you really understant these reasons and do a well job to avoid receiving again? Undoubtedly, reading these reasons carefully is very helpful for you to avoid refusing and improve your acceptance ratio. Here is the complete list of refusing reasons which I collected when my pics are refused. I hope this can be helpful to you.

I'm just wondering, if it's possible to create an image what would be rejected for all those 17 reasons? I guess my best attempt was 4-5 reasons, if I remember correctly... ;) - posted by Maigi on July 19, 2008

My experience about making the ETR shorter     posted on 17th of july, 2008

ETR, Estimated Time until Review, is a boring term for newbies. It's usually more the 100 hours how can we tolerate this. But don't worry about it, after a long time practice, I have already can handle it well. Here is my experience, sharing with newbies like me.

At first, let's see what should we do to make a photo online. Shooting, adjusting, uploading, keywording, then waiting for reviewing. Each of these work can take a lot of time but why only ETR bother you? Because you can do nothing to reduce the ETR but just waiting. Changing you point of view, you will find that you really can do something while ETR. You can shooting, adjusting, uploading, keywording, it will make you feel that the ETR is shorter.

My experience and advise is that keeping shooting and uploading,...

Hi Namowen, Great Portfolio!!! I try to upload a couple of pictures everyday, that way, at least a couple of new files will be revewed everyday. And (Hopefully) approved. I also see the long ETR as a sign that this site is very popular because it is the most successful for me. - posted by Irisangel on July 18, 2008
Agree. And using the wait time to browse the message boards and blogs like this one can kill some time and can be rewarded with some useful info too. - posted by Py2000 on July 18, 2008

The Record for Successive Rejection     posted on 27th of june, 2008

My record for successive rejection is made yesterday morning. The number reaches 21. I was shocked and disappointed when I saw this. I could feel that my confidence was losing. Fortunately, I have 25 photos accepted in the afternoon, so I feel a little better. I hope this situation don't occur again, but who knows:-(

Low Acceptance Ratio, Tormenting and Confusing Me     posted on 26th of june, 2008

Since I became a dreamstimer, it's always been tormenting and confusing that my acceptance ratio is so low. At the beginning, it's about 30% only. It took a long time for me to know what kind of photos are more appropriate Stock ones. Until now, I can't say I know that well, but just make a little progress. My acceptance ratio is about 40% now, I know there are a lot of work to do on this. But how?

My Photo Story -- The First Download     posted on 12th of june, 2008

I have been a photographer on dreamstime website since Oct of last year. It's already 8 months, not too long, not too short. Now I have 145 photos on line, but the most exciting and unexpecting on line photo is the First Download.

It's no doubt that the first one is exciting to everybody, furthermore mine is unexpecting also. At the beginning, my acceptance ratio is very low, so i decide to delete some Pending Files, including this one. But I found that it cann't be delete because it has been under review just at the same time, and unexpectly it has been accepted. It's not long before it has been download for the first time.

I find that it's hard to tell the style of editor and designer for me until now:-(

Good Old TV series -- Everybody Loves Raymond     posted on 31st of may, 2008

Recently, I'v been watching an old tv series, everybody loves raymond. It's my second time. My wife and I love this show very much because we can see the family life of ourself sometimes. I mean, not the same, but similar。You know, I act stupid and my wife react like Debra did, some thing like that. These can make us laugh to the max when we saw this show. The other actors, Frank, Marie, Robert, are very funny, too.

The only question is that it's taken me too much time. But everybody loves raymond, how couldn't I? :-)
