Why I love Stock Photography. How about you?

posted on 10th of march, 2008

Having worked my entire life dealing with the public, raising children, and being the all around "doer of everything" for my family, I found myself retired and somewhat disabled due to some back problems. I have always loved art and photography, I have a closet full of cameras and lenses that are gathering dust since the introduction of Digital cameras.
With all children now happily married and raising their own families, I began to take pictures and tried to learn all I could about creating digital illustrations, using a combination of images and graphics. At first this was to fight the boredom and occasional slight depression of being unable to work. Then I read an article about stock photography and decided to give it a shot. To my surprise, my images started selling, since then, I have not be disappointed and just love doing what I am doing now. I know I am never going to get rich doing this, but the joy I get every time one of my images is downloaded makes the effort very easy and keeps me busy.
Thanks for reading this, (my first blog). Now, How about you?

Very nice flowers and butterflies border in your blog. I was drawn back to the camera after being away from it for years. Work and stolen equipment got in the way. Stock has exposed me to so much more than just photos. Always inspiring looking at others skills and products.

About me

Art has always been a part of my life. Photography was a natural part of the evolution. I have a closet full of cameras and lenses, including a 3D camera. All of which are gathering dust since digital cameras came along and changed the world. For the past 10+ years I have been trying to learn all I can about post production and digital art. Even after all these years, I know I have not even begun to scratch the surface of all there is to know. And so, the journey continues.
