Sanqing Mountain is located at the northern part of Shangrao, Jiangxi Province. It's geological coordinates are 28°54′north latitude and at longitude 118°03′east. In 1988, Sanqing Mountain is authorized as national key scenery area by the State Council. It's now a national AAAA-rate tourism area, national geology park, national patriotism education demonstration base, national civilized scenic tourism demonstration area and winner of the human living environment example prize. It has been appraised as one of the five most beautiful peaks in china by a number of specialist and academicians of the Geology Science Academy in an event organized by 'China National Geography' magazine in 2005. It was then successfully listed as member of the first group of China National Natural Heritages and was in the waiting list of World Natural Heritages in 2006.
Sanqing Mountain is a famous mountain of Taoism and is named after ancient codes and records of Taoism. The three main peaks of Sanqing Mountain are named Yuqing-Original God, Shangqing-Spiritual Treasure God and Taiqing-Moral God respectively thus the mountain is named 'Sanqing'. The altitude of the main peak-Yujing Peak is 1816.9 meters.
