The Bluethroat (Luscinia svecica) is a small passerine bird.

A small, brightly colored bird of the far north, the Bluethroat is found in North America only on the tundra of Alaska and the Yukon.
It is common, across Europe and Asia where it is not restricted to tundra habitat.

The bluethroat is essentially a bird of damp thickets in mountains, but in western Europe it occurs in lowlands also.

Male with blue throat, female with white.

The Bluethroat is similar in size to the European Robin at 13-14 cm.
Size: 14 cm (6 in).
Weight: 15-22 g (0.53-0.78 ounces).

Bluethroat: Breeds in northwestern Alaska and Eurasia in marshy scrub around lakes and bogs. Spends winters mostly on salt mashes or around the edges of reed beds.
