New mate in my life, My new Nikon D90

posted on 7th of february, 2009

Well after few months of research and juggling, finally I purchased my camera, Nikon D90,
Well I stuck in between, Canon EOS 50D, Nikon D300 & Nikon D90, spent some sleepless nights to decide on which will be my choice, Finally 90 percent of the people I spoke or read convinced me to opt for Nikon D90.

Earlier I had booked a Canon EOS 50D from US online store, but later I had to cancel the order as we had some difference with the merchant.

With this brand new camera, I got a bundled offer of one Nikkor 18-105mm lens, now i will be taking keen interest on the lens and will buy some good lens some suggestion will be highly appreciated. ( I love to shoot, landscape, portrait, sports and wildlife)

First time I'm stepping into Nikon world from Canon, I will post my experience with Nikon in my future blogs.

I have also added a new tripod Slik Pro340DX

One question how to you guys think and feel about Nikon D90

Yes, congratulations on your new camera. (very envious) I loved the feedback that Azathoth973 gave. That was insightful. Thanks. I had a Nikon, went to Canon with my fist digital, but plan to go back to Nikon when I upgrade. Hope to catch your future blogs.

Thanks all for the kind reply, this shows I have made the right move, Well Maigi, I was using Canon EF-S 17-55mm F2.8 USM IS and for Nikon, I'm yet to buy lens, now I have a basic lens which came with camera, that's Nikkor 18-105mm and for all those guys who wanna check the clarity of the N90 I have few images Few Samples All these images are shot indoor in my room, in night, so its not that great shot, just some test shots.

That's interesting. Could you post your results somewhere, please? Would be interesting to see. What lens did you use with your Canon 450D and Nikon D90?

Thanks everyone for the comments, yeah it was a tough choice coming out of Canon, already I'm feeling the pinch, was used to Canon, but trying o cope with my new mate. But believe me some shots I took yesterday for testing from my old Canon EOS 450, Nikon D90, Canon powershot and Sony Cyber shot, I'm impressed with the details in D90.

That's a great news! You gonna have some rough adaption times, but don't consider the divorce too easy. Once you have settled down and got used to each other, you can do great deeds. :)) Congrats on your new camera!!

Congrats on the new camera! I recently chose the Canon 40D. I'm curious to see how you find Nikon coming from Canon. I just couldn't see switching with all the lenses and gear I have... I don't imagine you'll be disappointed with the D90.

The Nikon D90 is an extremely good APS camera, perhaps the best in the bunch... the cam jpgs are very very good, even at very high ISOs : the Noise Reduction is smart and soft, but incredibly effective. My D300 is not as good in Jpgs and I must carefully process Raw files to obtain similar results (I always shoot RAW or RAW+JPG... ) even if D300's images are better in "per pixel sharpness". I suggest to use the nikkor 16-85 lens instead of 18-105 : it is very good. Have a Nice time....
