Hungarian National Gallop 2009

posted on 3rd of june, 2009

Dear All,

let me introduce an other part of my small country today - a very unique event in Budapest. Three days of horseback action, fantastic food, a cavalcade of crafts and culture, bringing Hungary’s vibrant history to life before your very eyes… Heroes’ Square, transformed into a racetrack with 6,200 square meters’ worth of special equine-friendly sand...sounds great, isn't it?

Hungarian National Gallop race is a traditional hungarian cultural sport event, that was the second time that is organized between 30 May and 01 June. It is tried to save the hungarian national gallop traditions, which comes from the small hungarian villages.

Event located in heart of capital city of Hungary in Heroes' Square with famous competitors (Alexandra Oszter, Sándor Fábry, András Stohl, etc.) and cavalrymen from many villages and towns. They run round to decide, who is the best horserider in Hungary - this year the winner is Bácsalmás, this village get the price and fame. The rider is Sándor Németh on beautiful horse, National Face (funny name, e? :)).

Between the races Hungarian history of war and horse riding was revived by a spectacular show, including processions and historical parades. (Unfortunately I've been at my main workplace at that time, maybe will see it in 2010...)

On the National Gallop Promenade located on Andrássy road the participating villages and towns will each have a pavilion in which they can introduce themselves. Participants can show the cultural, art or tourism themes most typical to their settlement. Visitors can find a craft fair, folk music performances and traditional country food and drinks. Events in the main locations will be accompanied by further cultural and entertainment programs.

The event is free for all visitors (excep VIP stage of course), so see you there next year! :)
(I am not a people-friendly person, but there were no crowd as I thought before and was easy to take photos also :))

Homepage is here.

And well, with these photos I've reached 101 upload, yeah. :)

You're right...these are all editorial shots - but I'd feel so uncomfortable if I go to an unknown person with "hey, I'd like to sell your face"...not my world :)
How you do that?

About me

I've started photographing a few years ago with a compact cam. In 2008 november I decided to buy a DSLR cam, and I chose a Pentax k10d. Now I'm upgraded into a Pentax K-3 for more details. I think I'm good at nightscenes - however, I don't like to take photos about people, so my pics sometimes seems a little static - mainly for Stock photographing, but I don't give up. :) Lots of my photos are based on R... [Read more]
