Tribute To Illustrators

posted on 28th of august, 2009

As a photographer, I love to see my work used commercially. However, there are many places a photograph will not work. This is where the illustrator plays an important role. I do want to make it clear that I am not an illustrator. I took a drawing class once and progressed from “god awful” to “awful”. I just wanted to write this blog to recognize a few of the many talented illustrators on this site, and the hard work they do, and expound on what their work evokes from me.

Here we have great examples of a Cool Santa. Now who wouldn’t want to hang out with this fellow and find out what the elves have been up to the past year?. Now this is a guy I wouldn’t mind kicking back with and popping open a six-pack and a football game on the tube. Who knows? After a few beers he might tell you who the Super Bowl winner will be and give you the point spread. Wouldn’t that be a windfall?

Below is a lovable and unique kid; this illustration epitomizes kids and the things they do that entertain us. I can see many uses for these little guys.

Then there are the animals that portray an array of human emotions or just bring life to holidays such as Halloween.

These are just a few examples of the many talented illustrators here at DT. These people give life to words, spark the imagination of our children, they bring us laughter and joy at the holidays, and much, much more. As a photographer, I try to create art out of life. Illustrators give life to their art.

Susan, I should have known you were breaking things on the site again...I know you can't help it though...LOL.
Maen, now don't you go and start breaking things...LOL
Melonstone, I'm glad you can scratch that creative itch. I wish I could, but all I can do is admire the work of others and try to continue developing my talent as a photographer.

Enjoyable read - I wish I could use Illustrator, but I too am awful at freehand drawing, but I do very simple graphics, which I enjoy as they scratch that creative itch when the sky is grey here in Blighty (nearly every day this summer!)

Please, do not mess the site! Thanks!

LOL Susan...
Actually it passed to my mind to start messing up but I remembered the other so...
Cheers ;)

Dessie and Maen, should I mess up this blog, also?? I will be very nice here, oh, so hard for me..but I'm afraid of being booted out if I do anymore damage! :((
Anyway, Clayton Claus, there are so many good illustrators here that it's a shame the site is a bit messed up right now....I have NO IDEA who caused it!

Littledesire, thanks! Read my last and first post and they explain why more illustrators' work is not displayed here. Believe me, I wanted to use more examples. Hopefully my tribute in words will be enough and everyone will know I mean those illustrators also.

Conceptualcreations, you have missed a lot of great illustrators! Next time. Nice port, too ;)
Maen, I made illustrations when I had no photos to upload. But that was one year ago, when I was trying to find out what is stock and what it's all about :))) Now I'm a photographer!!!!!!! hahaha

Littledesire and you have 0 :P :)))

Opps! I missed some people. Ponytail1414, thank you for the compliment. You are very talented and the beginning of an awesome port. Keep uploading!
Macdaddy, you have a great port also. You are also very talented. Keep up the good work. I wanted to use the work of other illustrators, but I was lucky to be able to get these 3 up.
Littledesire, lol...great port!

Great blog!
Maen, Queen of France leeds you 2:1! Yeaaah! :)))

Thanks for the comments! Maen, don't sell yourself short. You have a good future ahead of you as an illustrator. Look at me, I'm still trying to sell people on the idea of Clayton Claus and if they leave a pack of cigarettes and a six-pack of beer on their doorstep, I'll come visit. Unfortunately, this idea isn't catching on. Oh well.

WoW, I'm almost drooling as my illustration :))
Conceptualcreations are you sure that you looked well in DT illustrations?! Thanks man I am very honored really!
Ponytail1414 (ie: Queen of France) nothing more awesome more than the company of your majesty :))

Whoa what a nice blog hehe. Seriously, I'm honored all the more because I admire your work, and I'm sure I speak for all us illustrators when I say we appreciate it. Am also honored to be in the company of Mani.

I intended to post more examples from other illustrators, but this is all that I was allowed. This is probably because I'm a retard and used to working with tables.
