Unlucky month

posted on 31st of october, 2009

This october appears to be the unluckiest month for me. My revenue this month is 9.33$ only. Even when I had three times less images online my month revenue was higher. I wonder what happened... Is it a kind of autumn depression among the buyers or just my personal misforture? Did you have a good october?

Well, people are different, portfolios too... someone might say that my best month (about 30$) is not good at all.

I would be amazed if I made $9.33 in a month. I have only made about 75% of that in my best month. August was amazing. About 2/3 of my total sales happened then.

Equal BME in terms of DL but not revenue.

This was my BME but I've only got a small portfolio so it doesn't take many sales to be my best month! lol. I think maybe there are two kinds of slumps and they will affect everyone. The 'all the buyers are on their summer holidays' slump and the 'buyers want different things in different months and we don't have enough of them in our port at the right time' personal slumps. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Everyone of us has good and bad months and because our ports are all different they will be at different times of the year. Cheer up, November should be better and you have a great portfolio :0)

I am new here, oktober was a good month. Lot of new approvals, more views , I went exclusive , and I had some sales....
How much would somebody make a month with 1000 quality images online , exlusive DT ?

Hey Olga! Maybe it was a bad month for you but I really think that you have a great imagination in your illustrations, for us to appreciate the good months we should experience the bad ones! ;)
It is like that! Keep uploading... Cheers ;)

This is my best month ever in sales and revenue, but my RPD is very low

I too feeling slump in sales, but I am sure good days will come. Cheer up my friend.

It is probably a different concentration of images purchased by designers. Perhaps fall emphasis or Christmas. There are slumps in every-ones sales. You are very talented so just keep going and keep producing.

Your images look great and its refreshing that you tell the situation as you find it.
About 8 months ago before I had heard of microstock photogrphy I met a guy in my local town who told me about microstock and that he earned $480 per month. [ not with DT ]. I thought thats a nice little pension and started submitting to Dreamstime. It doesn't look as if the work is for the money but only for pleasure unless you have 1000 s of images of very high quality. But the plus side seems to be accepting criticism and raising the quality of your submissions.
The cost of materials like black velvet and white satin would swallow all the ' profits ' not to mention, camera, lenses and tripod !!! Good luck for better future sales. David.
PS If anybody disagrees and makes lots of money let them come forward and explain.

This october is the best month ever. Not only on DT but also on some other agencies.
