50 Photos Online Should i go for Exclusive???

posted on 15th of december, 2009

Today i have 50 photos online in my Dreamstime portfolio you guyz suggest me should i go for exclusive?

I am also having most of my photos on other microstock websites but the sales on dreamstime so far are 25 percent more than others.

Lastly i would like to thanks Dreamstime as i learned a lot from their rejections :) which eventually increases my overall knowledge of stock photography.

Take Care & Have a Great Time.

Congrats!! From my own experience: 2 years ago I was uploading to 2 sites: DT and another one, I tried another 2 sites wich requieres a previous sample of your work to be approved but they refused all I was sending, so I remained with DT and the other one. One year ago I went exclusive to DT because the good offers they do to the exclusives: 20 cts for photo approved and 60% comission.
So I'm happy with exclusivity.

Sometimes I've considered leaving exclusivity in order to upload refused files here to another agencies but then, the comission here for non exclusives is too low for me and I don't know if other sites are accepting all my shoots. If I quit exclusivity here I will lost all privileges and maybe other sites only accept 25% of my work or so, so it's not worth it.

Brad has said the rest, see your needs and consider :)

If uploading on microstock it's a second job I think exclusivity represents a very good option. Good luck in your decision!

Congrats! I my opinion its very good option to go for full exclusivity with DT.

I've been thinking about this too. Can you turn off the exclusive status on your account?

If you are taking sales into account when making decision about exclusivity you need much bigger portfolio to evaluate your revenue from different sites.

Fantastic!!! :)) Good luck with your next milestone. as for exclusivity I would suggest you go through all forum posts and judge what suits you best vis a vis how you do on other sites. :)

There are really two things to consider:

1. Do you sell your photos, or will you want to sell your photos elsewhere - this includes other stock sites of course, but also print on demand (i.e. your photo on a mug, prints, etc.) or any service where you sell your prints or photos through a third party. This includes images that are rejected here. If so, exclusivity isn't for you...
2. My choice to go exclusive revolved around spending less time on uploading, and more time shooting. DT delivered good income and results for my style of shooting and the community attracted me. If you are selling elsewhere you already know what your income from other sites is like. You can expect higher revenue per sale if you go exclusive, plus the upload bonus, but also better search placement - hard to quantify how much that helps. My feeling is that I do almost as well as selling everywhere, with a lot less work. If you have another job, etc. time may be more valuable than the boost in income....(More)

Congratulations! Exclusivity is something for you to analyze depend on your revenue & time! No doubt there are advantages of being exclusive on DT...
Make your balance & good luck! ;)
