Background out of a cat ;)

posted on 20th of january, 2010

Hi, Friends.
Today I desided to share an easy tip how to make abstract backgrounds out of anything.
This background

for ex. was made of this picture .
To do so I opened Photoshop filters => distort => wave and later played a bit with settings.

Other examples:
- background made out of a "cat's portrait" disapproved elsewhere as non-stock-oriented,

and - made out of "Russian vodka with salty cucumber" food composition which couldn't be used on stock for copyright reason. Can you recognize the initial things? ;)

None of these backgrounds of mine were bought yet thought, but they were approved on most stocks and life will show what happens later. Anyway, making backgrounds can be quite entertaining. Have fun!

I also tried it to many "good" and "bad" photos but never got the thought of actually uploading them. Thanks for the push you gave me to send them!

I've done that with quite a few of my images that were "useless" otherwise, too. It is amazing to see how many different things you can get out of one image. I really like your green abstract one.

Very interesting, I haven't experimented with this yet, I should try!
