First Sale on Dreamstime !

posted on 23rd of january, 2010

In my opinion, there is something special about a first sale. I refer to the excitement, the adrenalin rush that came from checking my Dreamstime account, and finding that at long last, under downloads, a sale has come through !

Only other Dreamstime contributors who have experienced this will understand that a first sale induces a rush of enthusiasm, an uplifting of the spirit, and a general air of impending affluence that others not so involved will find hard to comprehend.

You may well say - why get wired up about a 35cent sale ? In my case, it’s not the remuneration so much, it’s more the fact that a member of the buying public took the time to review my work, and found it useful.

And it’s also the fact that one small sale can possibly lead to many others.

If you are reading this, you will realise by now that my first sale occurred on Dreamstime today. I have been a member for over a month, hence my elation at kicking off an initial success.
A cartoon that I drew - depicting a man and woman sipping drinks in an airport lounge - drew a download ! Great news !

I hereby thank the unknown buyer for supporting my artworks, and hope that he/she plus many others will return for further downloads !

Of course I realise that maybe I shouldn’t give up my day job just yet. But more importantly in my view, is the fact that this initial download could well forecast the start of bigger and better things to come. I imagine many Dreamstime contributors probably feel the same way.

So that’s my news for today in this first post in my Dreamstime blog. First post, first download, first success. From many ‘acorns planted’ do great oak trees grow. ……

It's always exciting to see your work likes someone. The money is always secondary!

Always a good time … looking back at the first … and yes it can only move in one direction from there — forward.

Congrats & keep up the work, as there will be times that you ask yourself is it all worth it … trust me I do, often … but as the sales roll in you will ease off on saying that.

For every seller there will be a buyer, it's just about attracting their attention, in the best possible manner …
