Major Find — 17 Photographers involved

posted on 26th of january, 2010

WOW … what a SUPER find.

Homeschool is COOL!!!

Tonight I thought that I've have another trawl thru the net to see if I can get any positive hits …

I do, from time to time wonder, if the images that I am selling are landing up in print anywhere, or in what format they are being utilized. As I am sure do many of us at DT.

Well I never imagined that it would be such a scoop!

I have found an online version of a print magazine … that has made use of no less than 17 of us, from here at DT.

I am the lucky one on page 138 …

Which page did you find your image on?
Post your name with the page number and I'll update the list above …
If you give the DT FILE ID … along with your reply … that'll update the list also & show your pic embedded. [a little free marketing for us all] — see we all do what we can for each other …

From what I can determine the following page have DT related images/content placed on them:
42 — Yuri Arcurs
138 — RatManDude

Go have a look and claim your number … take the seat that has been reserved for you in your moment of spotlight … LOL

If I have left anyone off ; no malice intended … I've tried to id all the DT images, but may have missed a few …

You will also note that among us [oh so small photographers, that we are graced to also be among the SUPER dude! — Yuri Arcurs — who for those of you who don't already know is one of, if not the outright, top seller of micro stock, worldwide.

I tried to find the file ID of the DT image that was used, but alas there just far too many images in Yuri's porfolio for me to find the file, besides I suspect that it in fact may no longer available at DT — I did find a few that are similar, with the same model, but alas not the exact image that is used in the mag … therefore … no highlighted image for Yuri in this blog. [Sorry Dude!] — [Not that he needs my little marketing exercise to bump sales in his department].

So while I bow my head and say thank you & well done to all, I hold my head up high & say I was there right with Yuri!! — Were you?

The publication [in print form is]:
The Old Schoolhouse
The magazine for homeschool families
Summer 2009

The online version [that I have tracked is]:

Naturally my image used [page 138]:

As a matter if interest for those that did make sales for this publication … I was just wondering how did you do with the sale … royalties wise I mean … mine was used as a half page vertical on the A4 page, and as such it was purchased as maximum size download, but fortunately not as a subs purchase, for good revenue was attracted …
[I ask — if you are able to id when the sale took place], as the image of mine that sold has not made any others to date, I was easily able to ID the date of the sale:
05/02/2009 13:56
The keyword searched for — for the basis of the sale — "bridge".
I shudder to think how many hits there may have been when looking for that simple a keyword string, even at that date there must have been way may.
AMI — yes I did do it for kicks — tonight there are "58,816 images" based on that keyword.

Did you make a sale around that time, on that day, well perhaps your image is in that publication detailed above … may be an interesting investigation … go check it out & let me know if you do find your goodies there, also along side Yuri & Me!

Thanks for taking the time to get this far thru my thoughts with me today … and have a wonderful day further … keep clicking!

RatManDude - Thanks for your advice, will see what I can find. Problem is that I also have tons of photos publicly available at Flickr online gallery and DeviantArt so that makes things harder :( Thanks once again!

Darkwulf — The chief way is to search for my "name" — "RatManDude" via many of the web crawlers that are in existence … "Google" / "Yahoo" are two of the most common, but there are many others. Remember there is also "TinEye" [although I don't seem to ever get matches with that] … perhaps it's still too new to work as it should … If you make sure that your "handle" is tagged into the XML data of the files it also helps to locate them in interesting places … I'm no P.I. at the locating stuff, but I do make a point of trying to find things on a reasonably weekly basis. Not for much else other than for kicks … but the last find was a super bonus … for all photographers concerned. And more so for me as I would never had seen that printed publication, as I'm sure it is not distributed [in print form] here in South Africa.

Test it out for yourself and see where you can find yourself … it leads to an interesting discovery sometimes.

None of mine, but great to find loads of DT pix being used in just one publication.

Oh - and I just have to add this - that the sole reason that I was able to track the find was as a result of "keywording policies" that I employ. So Yes we have hashed this matter out in my previous blog … but this indeed is again proof of the practice in live action.

So to all those naysayers that go on about "please copy my keywords, I don't care" … let this again show the value of accurate & appropriate keywording techniques that are 100% the most important part of micro stocking!

Thanks for the link, even though I didn't find my images, but it was worth to see what people like to buy. I guess now its time for me to provide links of the work I have done with images from DT

Justmeyo — Thanks Indeed …

And to any others who have read this blog, and feel that it is exclusively for those members that were selected as the "lucky" winners of the pages as detailed above … Not at all …
The more responses the merrier …
