Im in my Forties Now

posted on 27th of january, 2010

I turned 40 on the 26th January. After years of denying being my age, some people might say lying, I've finally realised that it wasn't a helpful attitude. Life is limited, so get out there and make the most of it.

So now I'm going to embrace being forty and use it as a tool to do the things i want to do. My present to myself is some months off work, which will start from the 5th Feb.

Off course, photography will play a big part in the next few months and I'm aiming to move it forward. I've really enjoyed being part of the Dreamstime community for the past year or so and I hope that I'll be able to contribute much more this year.

Thanks to the community and remember, life is limited, be brave and make it a life worth living.

I love this image from lightkeeper. It kinda how I feel at the moment.

Thanks Fleyeying for such a great comment.

That's how I intend to go on, enjoying everyday and being more in control of my life. I think this is the time to be bold, forget these fears of aging and what other people think and just get on with the things that are important to you.

Look at the bright side, in 10 years you will be 50, and soon enough 60. Time flies. I'm a bit amazed since in Asia age is considered as a source of wisdom and experience, not as "over the hill". With the Romans, 40 (or 42?) was considered as being a "man" (vir), not a youngster (iuvenis). It's a time to look back and to look forward.

Every day is the first day of the rest of your life, just like at 30 or 20. Now is the time of sharing, not so much of fierce and mindless competition any more. It can be a dark wood like in Dante's Inferno or the start of a better life, much more in control. May the Spirits guide you and happy birthday!

I turned 40 last June so I know what you mean. They say life begins at 40, so I think the party is just starting for us :) Make the most of your time off, cheers Carol :)

You have some fantastic ideas........... your coffee cup image with beans gives the lie to someone who recently said on this blog that microstock isn't art. Your image would or should sell in any art gallery. I love the creative process of making images to express ideas. Not all are of the same quality but that's true in painting and drawing as well.

I am turing 40 soon as well and would love to give myself the present of a few months off, however, in our current climate and economy the truth is I just cant. Wishing you luck in your 40's and with your present to yourself :0)
