Question about a publisher

posted on 11th of february, 2010

I think I have mentioned it sometimes here in DT that I have started like
a writer. In my country I have written many books for teenager (romance),
some astrological books and a few books for children and many, really many
articles - esp. with esoteric and mystic topics.

Indeed, it was due to my articles I have started a photographic "journey".
Now it looks impossible with so many photostock agencies, but some years
ago it wasn´t this way. Indeed, graphics complained several times to me,
something like: "Nice article about soul, but where to take a suitable image for that?"
Step by step I have realized that it would be the best to make my images
for my articles. My husband teached me visual tecnics. In two years, I have started
to get request even just for images. The rest you know :-)

But the truth is that one can´t "stop" to write totally - at last I can´t.
On Internet I have met Richard Brookes from U.S.A. who became my friend and also
writing partner as he enjoyes to write as well.
We have discusses and written many stories and even two fantasy
screenplays together. (Of course our writing works are written in English, that is
also adventure for me :-)).
To our surprised both our fantasy screenplays got many positive comments and evaluations from
agencies and one of them - "The Wolf Queen" was even accepted by an Australian
producer to try to developt it. It has been a great experience, but there was
nothing to do. The fantasy script was too expensive for production and so it reurned to
us in the end. However, we have got advice that we should write a fantasy book as our fantasy
is original and with many interesting imagination.

So I and my friend have written a new fantasy adventure with the working title "Zodiac
Kids". Seven Children must help to save the zodiac - and the world. It is our first fantasy book
and so I would like to ask you if you don´t know a publisher or a literary
agency that like to read fantasy manuscripts for kids. I start to find
in Internet several recources, but the truth it is our first experience with a fantasy
book and so I asked where is possible.
One never knows where could be somebody who might have an useful advice. :-)

I wish you a great February time, have a lot of reasons for a good mood!

Wow! I don't know how I missed this blog. I don't know any publishers but your comment about the Australian producer got me thinking. We have a few directors here in New Zealand that like producing fantasy films.

Mark Adamson, he's based in LA in the US, he directed Shrek & Shrek2 and also The chronicles of Narnia, the lion the witch and the wardrobe.

There is also Peter Jackson who made The Lord of the Rings trilogy and King Kong, both using Weta Workshops to create the characters and special effects needed.

I don't know who you would need to contact down here to get your work seen but it seems like a good idea to try to find out. I wish you the best of luck with your writing and hope that one day soon I will be going to see one of your movies :) Take care, Carol :)

like you, my love for written words came way before my exposure (bad pun) to photography. however, i never really seem to want to make the twains meet. i write lyrics and music, but not words to photography. not sure why. maybe it's because it's two mediums whereas composing a song it's one. or maybe it's because i started composing music as a wee teenager so it's more second nature.
in your case, i think your images are excellent complements to your words. it's ethereal and imaginative.
it's a pity that your film ideas did not work out.
perharps you can find a school for film and offer the students to work with you in your aspiration to have it on screenplay.
i see so many budget movies being produced, and alot of them are quite atrociously bad. as for your fantasy ideas, the images are excellent, so i am sure it will come off amazingly well on screenplay.
don't give up. look elsewhere for your collaboration to screenplay.
there could be a genius waiting to be discovered at movie...(More)

Hi, Jitka. Unfortunately I don't know any publisher. All I can do is to wish you good luck. I'm sure you'll succeed in publishing your book! Beautiful and inspiring pictures as always!

Jitka, I wish I could help. I was working for a publisher until Dec 2009. They do have a parenting and kids magazine, but its in Arabic, Well i'll mention this to some of my clients for whom I'm doing online flip magazines, if someone is interested I will surely inform you. And your images are really cool.

Maybe this is not against the rules. Buy or check out a library copy "Writer's Market". It should have a chapter on litertary agents and self-publishing firms. There's a new copy every year.

Many thanks for all your nice comments, advice and wishes. It is so pleasant to read all your nice wishes. I promise you if we ever publish the book, you will be informed at once :-) Have all a great day!

Hi, on this site www.avtoram.com you can find a list of agents and publishers all over the world arranged by categories. The access to this particular information is paid, but the fee is reasonable. This site is in Russian, but you can translate with some tool, and in case of bad result, send a letter to the admin. This site is owned by a Russian woman living in Holliwood, so she speaks English, and she is a literary agent and writer herself. Probably she will help you personally or at least gives advise, as she seems to know the market very well. Good luck with your screens! Now it's clear from where you have so many ideas for mystical images - you know the subject ;)

Since DT don't allow links to other webb sites - i googled writer's forums (i hope this is not against the rules). That may give you a start on what you're looking for.

Hi Jitka, I am also unable to help out with publishers, however, I would like to say that if your fantasy stories are anything as amazing as your images I am sure you will not have a problem finding someone to publish this book. Good luck and congratulations on all your achievements.

I'm afraid I can not help about the publishers also, but I would love to express my admiration of your images! If it happens that the book shows in the market soon, I would like to know where I can have a copy!
Good luck! Cheers :)
