Editorial images

posted on 20th of march, 2010

I do have a lot of editorial images, but they are not selling all that good. The pictures next to this text are sold once or twice, as a matter of fact, the one of Maxima, the dutch princess, is my only level 2 picture. The pictures under this text have a lot of viewes, but no downloads.

What are your experiences with editorial photo's?

I am pretty new here so maybe I have no place yet to comment but considering the short time span my Editorials have done pretty good. I actually prefer them to RF. 7 ED sales out of 12 total. All different types.

I have sold a few. Better to make your own designs with different concepts.

realise that editorials are use by reportage . therefore, it's not everyday that one needs these images. unlike general usage stock images which are generic and can fill different concepts .
if your editorials are seasonal and recurring, they will gain you downloads each year when the relevant images are needed.
i find this is so for my own editorials. if you check out my best selling image ie. the boy riding a bicycle in the heart bicycle race, this image gains me two even three downloads each year when that race comes into season.
be aware of such matters when shooting for editorials.
pretty faces and celebrities are wonderful to see, but most times, celebrities have their own publicity dept to furnish press with their own images. that's why i avoid those items.
but it may be different in your country. do your research.
shooting for editorials is no different from being a press photographer.

Try important events for editorials or subjects that attract the news!
I like your images! Good luck :)

I donĀ“t have any editorial images yet. I like your images and I wish you more sales in future, because they are great.
