How many of you use friends as models?

posted on 23rd of march, 2010

I've only stated in micro-stock, but have used my family and friends as models, it's so helpful!

How many of you use family? How many of you use models and do you pay them or offer them prints? Has that been successful?

I'd love to hear from you! In the meantime, I'm still using friends, and it sure helps when they are beautiful and athletic as you can see from a few photos here:)

My models are all family. I think I'd have to be much better at this to be able to justify the cost of hiring a model. Cheers :)

I'm doing model photography too, so I get models from there. Before that I was too shy to ask people to pose for me/stock. And now I am taking images of my friends too (but they tend to get tired before I do :)).[imgr]11557335[/imgr]

I use my family most .I have luck because my wife were a professional model and never get tired about making photos.I think a good model it is a person who listen your needs and do what you want in photos, doesn't matter if is friend, family or pro model:)Wish you good luck!

I use mostly family but friends too. Some people are not keen at all, but some are just happy to have a nice photo of themselves, even as a digital copy. Some people photos sell really well, but some amazing portraits don't and I haven't figured out why yet...
Your friend looks like a pro! Keep on photographing her!

Currently, my only model is my gracious husband. :-) However, I am curious to see what kind of responses you get. I thought about paying a model, but I am not sure it's worth it. If you pay a model $50, how many times do you have to sell the image just to recover your costs??? Is it worth it to pay for models for small time photogs like me, or is it only for the pros?

Thank you for asking the question. Hopefully you get a response so we both know. :-)

Well, since you have friends and relatives that look so nice and they are willing to help you, that's the best. I also do that all the time. Next week I am going to work with a pro model for the first time, I am eager to see the difference ;)

Keep up the good work!
