Shoot it before you eat it

posted on 11th of july, 2010

My family and I recently stopped at a restaurant on our way home from a family outing. We live in Japan so we eat a lot of Japanese food, especially sushi and sashimi. My wife ordered that sashimi plate and before she got a chance to take a bite I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures. The arrangement on the plate was very picturesque and I wanted to capture it before it was gone.

When I got home and started reviewing the pictures from the day I really liked this photo so I submitted it. It was accepted and generated a sale not long after being posted.

So now I have a general rule of shooting my food before I eat it.

Me too - I read blogs like this and think "Yeah, next meal I'm gonna take a photo" then I get hungry, forget about the camera and just focus on the eating part! Glad you sold your sashimi pic and thanks for the reminder to shoot BEFORE we eat....
