First assignment success

posted on 1st of september, 2010

I'm participating in my first assignment - Hidden Local Treasures - and am thrilled to have one of my submissions approved.

This is part of The Wash, a large estuary in Norfolk on the East coast of England. These sheltered mudflats provide a vast feeding ground for thousands of water birds from as far away as Greenland and Siberia. Large parts of it are protected as a nature reserve, managed by the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB).

Thanks, BCritchley - and congrats to you, too. I love your pic of the two kids on top of the Wrekin. I live near that hill and know the area well. Good to see it represented on DT!

Thank you, Rosedarc. There are lots of landscapes like this on the North East coast of England. Many towns and villages, and miles of agricultural land, were developed on land reclaimed from the sea centuries ago. Very flat, with wide horizons and big beautiful skies.

I love your photo - and I'd never have guessed it was shot in England. Very interesting landscape. Good luck to you!

Cristalloid - thats's a splendid image!
Ela9 - it seems harder to get assignment pics approved: my ratio was eight refusals to one approval. We just have to keep on trying!

That's cool! What do you think of mine?  Aletsch Glacier

It shows the Aletsch Glacier in Valais. That is in Switzerland. The Aletsch Glacier is the longest glacier in European Alps (more than 20 km) an a UNESCO world heritage...
