The best photographers in the world are also wonderful photo editors. They possess an uncanny ability to sort through their own photos and pick only the best — at times, a single photo from a series of hundreds.
How many of us can say the same? When it comes to Dreamstime uploads, selecting only the best — and being brutally objective — will help you gain a higher acceptance ratio, and then allow you to upload more images per day. The more images you have online, the more you will sell.
So the next time you return from a photo shoot, be ruthless. Be objective. Seek advice. Distance yourself from the photos then return. And trust your gut. Does one photo evoke more than another? Is one more technically sound - even by a near-imperceptible amount? If you've taken 100 shots of the same subject, your goal is to upload only one.
Very good advice and one of the first things that I learned when I started to develop an interest in photography. It is very easy to "fall in love" with each image that resembles what you were envisioning... it is much harder to choose the one that really does that the most.
when I used to shoot with films, I would be happy if at least one image is good out of the whole roll of film. Same applies here with digital format. now we have the choose of shooting hundreds of images instead of limited to the roll of film. And the expense of develping them......great blog!!!! Dave
You are absolutly right! That's why I use to ask my husband: he is always objective... the only problem is that when he says "oh, that's not good, who would be interested in this picture?" then I answer "You don't understand nothing of microstock!" ;)
