I've been having more and more refunds lately, mainly subscriptions.
I've read a few threads about this problem; we really need a solution from DT. I go crazy when I think someone has downloaded my file and still has it after the refund. In case of credit card fraud, I don't think there's much ethically to prevent the downloader from bypassing all copyrights agreements.
Yesterday, I got 2 refunds, and today a whole 10 at once. Previously, many many more. This is outrageous. I highly doubt it's the quality of my work & I highly doubt that someone would download 10 files by mistake. Please if it's a test - would the admins let us know beforehand?!
I thought of contacting support but then again, there's a lack of blogs about this, so it might be a good way to bring the attention of the whole community to this issue & hear others' feedback. Not being exclusive here, I don't face this problem elsewhere. Please DT, with all due respect, please work on this.
Wow, I had no idea about this. It's never happened to me but it's BS anyway. Quality shouldn't be an issue since DT rejects work that's not up to snuff. If credit card fraud is the problem then it's up to the credit card companies to deal with not DT. If someone decides they didn't really want the image they downloaded then it should be "tough luck". There's an old rule in Canada: Buyer beware. Refunds should not come out of the Photographer's pocket.
Why is it always the photographer that gets the short end of the stick?
I had some refunds, not many, but some. I think DT can't stop this refunds, because it's like: I give you my creditcard, you by some images, I use them but I tell to DT my card was stolen. So, they give me a refund, how can DT know if I used them or no, they can't. Thats life, I don't like refunds, but I don't know how it should be resolved.
Never happened to me yet but it is a serious problem. It's unlikely that we would ever know if someone has used our image once they've downloaded it. Get in touch with Admin G. They are on our side and they're losong money too!
What i do feel can be improved are return photos, photos that buyers returned due to not what they wanted or poor quality. I am sure the composition and photo quality can be easily inspected since DT has put in efforts to improve the display panels and also zoom function so that buyers can inspect the photos in details, all without compromising larger photo sample downloads that some people can misuse to be fair to our hardworking and keen contributors here. For double downloads maybe the proximity between downloads should tell if there may be a lag in traffic somewhere along the line or if a buyer actually lost the file and had to download it again. Well, just my two cents.
I agree with you! Once I have posted a reply about the same issue & still on the same opinion! Credit Cards have optional insurance fees to cover frauds! When it happens insurance company should cover these things... If you don't have insurance, each person should be responsible on his financial data! Banks never cancel any fraud shopping or give back any money unless it's an order from the court! So why DT should refund while there is no return of the download?!
Never happened to me here. It happened anyway in a different place, in stand. I think is curious, anyway to be 10 refunds in a single day. Something should be wrong. Keep us informed, I want to know what's going on. Stay cool.
May need to understand the situation. So does the purchaser get to download the images only after payments are cleared or do they get to download even before its cleared? Otherwise buyers can already use those images without paying, literally?
