Try HDR When the Light is Harsh

posted on 12th of april, 2010

Recently I took a trip to Thailand. I was hoping to come back with many photos, some of which I would use for stock. One of the challenges I encountered was harsh light. When on holiday you can't see everything on your list around sunrise or sunset. You can always count on being somewhere special when the sun is overhead and just plain harsh.
While I made it possible to be at some amazing places to catch the glorious light of the sunset, I was more often finding myself somewhere great with the sun right over my head.

Harsh light almost always means dark shadows mixed with blown highlights. Many people will just say go indoors or look for details during mid day, but I say let the shutter click where ever you want when ever you want. I was visiting...

Level 4 in Less Than 4 Months

posted on 23rd of april, 2010

This image of Miami has been online since 12/29/09 and as of this morning it is a Level 4 image. It is also the 18th most downloaded HDR image on DT. Looks like I did something right with this image. This my first Level 4 image so you can understand my excitement. Thanks for your attention.

I'm really impressed with this photograph. It's actually makes Miami look a lot prettier than it is, and that's how you KNOW you're a great photographer! Congratulations!

Top 5 Reasons to Go Exclusive with DT

posted on 29th of april, 2010

1) My photos get reviewed much faster. I uploaded this panorama photo less than 24 hours ago.

2) My earnings instantly grew upon being accepted

3) I get more $ per download

4) I see my photos higher in search results... This photo of the Buddha is on page 1 for keyword "buddha." It has 1 download and has been online for less than 72 hours.

5) I can spend more time taking photos instead of managing my photos with multiple stock agencies.

Thanks DT.

EDIT: It has been brought to my attention that faster image review times may have nothing to do with my exclusivity. It seemed that right after I went exclusive, my wait times were reduced significantly. I attributed that to my exclusive status. Oh well.

DT is a community where others are only agencies. This makes the real difference.

Also DT has the best software when compared to others.

I am really very pleased to feel myself belonging here .

I went exclusive because of #5 alone. It has worked for me but I can see why others would not want to be exclusive. I just found it was alot of extra work to have multiple sites to manage especially since this is my fun job! I actually have two fun jobs so I am lucky. ;-)

I am not exclusive; not yet.. but I certainly can relate the advantages of going exclusive for those who do not have the insurmountable task of deleting all the old images you have with the other sites.
Certainly one most attractive incentive , other than higher commissions and placement, would be the workflow and the reduction of time needed to upload to 4 of the top sites, or whatever. The time you save could be energy conserved to create more images for just Dreamstime and thus
your portfolio gets larger faster, which in turn means even more commissions earned.
Congrats. It certainly wouldn't be any regret to go exclusive with Dreamstime; but.. I don't have to tell you that :)
