Patience, patience

posted on 2nd of january, 2011

The more time I spend taking wildlife pictures I become aware that you newer know what´s going to happen. For that reason I have learnt not to think: "just boring storks" or "just common mallards" and not to put attention on them. You newer know what this animals can do very suddenly! Just a week ago I visited the lagoons of the Aiguamolls del Emporda, near the spanish-french border. A horrible cold and strong Tramuntana northern wind was blowing and I was going to give up and drive the 2 hours back home but I decided to see what was going on. As expected all the birds were hiding and seeking shelter from the wind. A huge group of common storks had joined in a protected lagoon and as they were quite crowded little disputes arouse here and there. When I saw one of them playing with a stone I concentrated on him and in the picture you can see the result!
Happy New Year to everybody!

thanks Mani33! I forgot to say that you have to zoom in to see that one of the storks breaks the stone which the other one is holding!
