If it hadn't been for Dreamstime I'd maybe have given up trying to get into microstock. While I was faced with applications elsewhere that were almost impossible to pass for beginners (x out of y images need to be great or wait another month till ya may try again... and stuff like that), Dreamstime just rejected my bad images and accepted the good ones :) So I kept shooting and uploading! Soon I got my first download and then the second one... Wow, that felt just awesome!!
And then I bought a new camera and suddenly my acceptance rate together with my fun went skyward! :)
My number of downloads increased and so did my motivation. I started participating in the assignments and in September 2009 this image of mine won the assignment!!
That was during the time I was working on my Physics diploma. I finished that in January last year and decided to take a break from science and try to do something completely different and live from my images for one year. I'm a digital artist as well so microstock wasn't supposed to be my only income, but a good part! :)
And it worked. I uploaded a lot last year and I have been making a living of my images since then :) When I signed up here I never expected this to become more than just a little fun with a little profit. But it seriously changed my life!
Thank you very much for sharing your "Dreamstime" story with all of us. It's very inspiring.
You have very nice portfolio, and hopefully many of us will reach your numbers one day too.
Till that time comes I'll improve my technique, equipment and the way of thinking.
Again, congrats for your success.
Your story is just great. I am at the end of the first year at Dreamstime, I just bought my first DSRL, I sold my first photo a few days ago - I found myself a lot in your story.:)))) Keep up the good work. Congratulations!:)))
You started a month before me, and I've been following you from the beginning. In the beginning I tried to compare to you, but you very soon turned out much better quality than me. Now you are a big inspiration. Good luck in the future!
Congrats - I just noticed that we signed up on the very same day ! I too was floundering a bit with microstock, and losing interest until I found Dreamstime... Thank goodness I did - it was certainly worthwhile for me :)
Inganielsen, I've always loved your images since I saw that honeymoon image (it was in an assignment contest, yes?). I think your success story is amazing, and inspiring. It's so wonderful to read positive stories like this. I wish you every continued success! Well done!!!
