Keywords, the never ending story

posted on 18th of may, 2011

Some minutes ago I did a research on "vietnam". I only used this single keyword.

And now I would like to share some of my findings:

nothing about Vietnam

go to Thailand if you would like to visit this historical building

this one is in Thailand, too

dog on beach.... maybe Vietnamese beach...

I am sitting and thinking about the above shown and many more images... what have they to do with Vietnam?? I don`t have any idea >:)

Pleeeaaaase folks, fill in the right keywords!!!!

It is absolutely important for customers not to get such irrelevant search results...

Hi Cristalloid, don't get it bad. This is the right spelling "Viet Nam" as long as I remember ... I think it must translate as the "viet country" in Vietnamese. That's why you do not have relevant result ;)

I had a rant about this a couple of weeks ago, when I was searching for images for a client...

I found it incredibly frustrating and it really does take away from the buying experience, on the plus side is is one of only two frustrations I have had here on DT in a largely happy four months :)

Robin Williams starred in "Good Morning Vietnam" :) In all fairness, though, I think the DT search engine does its job. None of these show up in a relevancy search unless you go through a bunch of pages...

Oh there are many like these. I have been clicking on the "innappropriate keywords" for some time but I see that they are still there.
The negetive side of this for other DT members is that if YOU have a good photograph of Vietnam, then it will may pushed to the last page, so you wait and hope that the customer will have the patience to go through all these irrelevant pictures till he/she gets to YOUR picture.

I agree with you.... We photographers should work harder to have better keywords. Thanks for sharing.
