After taking slow and erratic steps into this wonderful world of photography and after seven years of determination I have finally decided to leave the financial comfort of my "real job" and dedicate myself in full to photography and I cannot express the wonderful free feeling that I have!!! After finally leaving a personal relationship over 2 years ago that kept my personality suppressed and having worked for others always and other peoples ideas and commands for many years too, the feeling of freedom is just amazing. Along side comes fears, responsibility and insecurities but I wash them a way with my new found future :)
Who would have ever thought seven years ago when I squealed with delight at that first 20 cents sale that I could come this far.
I think this was one of my first selling images, the actual first I have deactivated some time ago! Taken with my point and shoot on automatic and by the looks of it with a pop up flash....and I treasure it!
The breaking point for me was when I reacted to an image request on the forums and the photo that I presented for it just "took off" Since then I realized "hey there is money to be made here, not just fun"
(Husband not home etc...Long story not for forums) had one full time job and coached at gym clubs and dance clubs too so have never found much time to shoot, retouch and upload. I was looking for more financial security as a means of escape from a relationship that financially I was tied to and thanks to stock I have now achieved :D
I know I joined when it was easier to get into stock but I am proof that if you follow your dreams and do your homework (practical and theory) you can do and become what you want.
As a child I was taught that by my father, he always said to us "if you want to be something then you have to go out and get it" He wouldn't help us as he wanted us to prove how much we wanted it. That was my first dream in life....becoming a professional dancer....and I danced professionally from the age of 17 to 35
The next milestone in my life has arrived and I feel a little like the young girl in this image with my sons pulling me back down to earth at times..... Dreamstime, be prepared....I have time on my hands :)
in my 16 years underwent surgery. I am a normal person. I only have the threat of such an operation would be for life. I would not take the job. If an attack happens I need 30 minutes to get to the surgery, I can not travel far from the city. I can not have a burning food, the sun is dangerous to me, I'm banned from swimming in the river, exposed to rain I almost none of which is impossible. I was told that I probably will not have children I gave birth to a beautiful son. I can not jump, fall, it is dangerous to me. I live with this for 16 years. I began to paint. the doctors are not banned me :)))) A dream? it is when you live so that you can do it!
Today I have broken my pencil "Genius", I'm drawing with the mouse, a dream to which she is able to keep enjoying what you can do it.
ask what a joy to one who knows the value of life. Those who are healthy Rarely it is understood glad that you are healthy and able to understand that we must live. gives life to a dream!...(More)
You know reading this, I felt some pride ... very happy for you .. Thank you for your honesty and for the hope you gave Because I do not stop thinking of how to open a new door in my life ... this is life with a photo! Thank you and good luck in everything!
That's a lovely story, Godfer. You have always been an inspiration to me, I have just never told you that before. You should be very proud of your great success, and I wish you all of the best at continuing this trend! You are someone to watch! :)
I have really appreciated all your comments....I was nervous writing the blog! I always tend to think " why would people want to hear about me?) Then I thought that just maybe I can be an inspiration to someone else who has the same dream as I and maybe someone can relate to my story. Ewapix...you have a beautiful, colourful, optimistic and happy portfolio and you have managed that without the use of people...amazing! Find time and keep at it. I wish you luck :) Clarsen55 Your dpi speaks for itself too! Great stuff and yes, the journey has been great and I hope it continues to be a long and even greater one for us :) To everyone else, I just wish there was a FB "like" button :) Feeling great and now have to get this lazy butt moving!!!!
Congratulations and all the best for future! I recognised the photo of a boy with a snow ball - from the book by Ellen Boughn. I am a mum of two little girls and also have little time to work on new images but your story gives me lots of hope for future - one can almost feel the wind of freedom between your words!
I joined within 2 weeks of you back in October of 2005. What a journey it's been since then! Congratulations on your well-deserved success...Like me, you don't have a huge portfolio, but each picture is well-conceived and significant. This reflects in your dpi ratio, and is why you are so successful. More importantly, I congratulate you on the decision to make it your full-time vocation...I know this is a real leap of faith, and I wish I could do the same. Reading your story gives me renewed hope...Bless you in your bright future! Connie
