Big thanks and little thanks

posted on 27th of november, 2012

Big thanks: My daughter's apartment was in a complex that burned down on Thanksgiving Day and everyone got out alright. Because she worked late the night before, my granddaugther was at the babysitter's and did not have to experience the smoke and flame from inside the house. There were three families in the complex and nobody was hurt. Pictures of the fire are below.

Little thanks: These pictures put me over 50 on DT and I can now contribute to assignments.

Remember to give your family a little extra love every chance you get.

One thing I learned with this set of images is not only do flames move, but a building is also moving as it burns, so you will definitely have motion blur if you don't use a fast enough shutter speed.

Thank you Clearvista and Egomezta. I did make sure she as OK and waited until she went to talk with some of the helpers on the scene before I started snapping away *lol*It is such a great blessing that everyone is OK.

I agree. I like the way you put that about building a brand. I do far better on DT than anywhere else and I am going to give exclusivity a try :-) Filling out my app...

Yes, lots to be thankful for..that everyone is safe and sound. It gives a new meaning to Thanksgiving Day.
I agree with Brett. Concentrating on being with one site is a very good way to develop your brand.

Thanks Eliane. My poor daughter. Oh, that's too bad...I'll be right over...Hey, can I bring my camera? I did let her bow out of getting her picture taken though, I wasn't totally awful :-) It's a lucky thing she gets how I am about photography.

Cynthia, again thank God for the safety of all. I really admire your positivity towards everything :)

Thank you so much for your encouragement and advise. I seem to click with DT better than with other agencies, so if I do go exclusive it will be here.

I beg to differ-I have seen your portfoliop and IMHO you ARE a great stock photographer!

I'm not a great stock photographer but it's really helped me hone my skills towards stock being able to concentrate on one place and build my portfolio here. You can never say never to none exclusivity but it's quite easy to end exclusivity if and when it's not for you. Keep up the good work :)

I will consider it. It is a lot to think about for sure. I really like DT, but it's a big committment.

Good news everyone was ok and of course that you were at least able to capture a few shots :) Are you going to consider exclusivity here at DT then now you have surpassed 50 uploads ?

About me

I have had a camera in my hand ever since I can remember. I was always the kid that wanted to trot down to the scene of the crime, or truck accident, or whatever, and get the images that would document that event for posterity. I guess its no surprise that I am naturally drawn to editorial and journalistic photography!
