I started out wondering... Could I actually sell stock photos? What photos are considered stock? What photos should I submit? Can I really make some extra cash doing this online?
I decided I would give it a try and just upload a few older photos I had taken a while back and see what happens. As I did that and waited for my first approvals or rejections, I decided to do some research to see what is selling and what isn't. I wanted to see what others were uploading. I wanted to know what imagaes have the most downloads or sells.
Well, I got some of my first uploads approved, what a great feeling, but I also had plenty of rejections, bummer. However, instead of getting upset I decided to use the rejections as a way to learn more. So I read each and every rejection. I even researched their meanings throughout the web, and the forum right here at DT. Some of the rejected photos I was able to go back and fix the problems with Photoshop and resubmit. Again some approved and some rejections. At this point I moved on to my next batch of photos to be uploaded.
With everything I had learned to this point, I began to be a lot more picky with what I would upload. As I did this my approval ratio vs my rejection ratio, got much better. Because I have some physical disabilities and can't get out much to take photos, I also got into illustrations which really picked up my acceptance ratio. Now I was getting sales! Which is a awesome feeling! Someone actually wants my work. The more sales I got the more images I wanted to get online.
Now I am putting photos and illustrations together!
I'll wait for you but you've always been ahead of me when it comes to uploads. Maybe because I am forced to spend a lot of time on post processing? But either way we'll make it to 700 I suppose. Then 2000 next year? Dreaming is the best part of any mission. haha!
