After 2 years, 7 months and 9 days I reached the 10.000$. Now What?... I started submitting in a lucky day of September 13th and I got my first sale after 15 days….. 0.99 cents. …. For the rest of 9999.01 I did the following:
After that: learn how to cook and shot photos. The biggest challenge here was not how to take photos of fresh and amazing culinary delight that I just prepared but to stop myself from eating everything before the photo session :-).
Travel, a lot and use my first earnings from Dreamstime. Sacrifices we make in the name of photography…
Upload photos with sunset and sunrise, my own CT scan…my wife, me again, my nephew, nephew’s girlfriend, uncle, friends, all the tools I could find in my house … food again and let’s not forget my cat, who got food only when his photos sold … that’s way now he’s overweight:-).
If you get a photo rejected it is not the end of the word. Wait a day or two and take a look at your photo, if it still looks like a masterpiece, you can send a nice and warm message to the editor with your opinion about the photo- if you have good arguments they will reconsider it. (These good guys work really hard)
I wanted to let you know I used your photo (Abraham Lincoln memorial) in my new children’s book ‘Look Up’ recently out on Amazon. I thank you for your contribution to the book. I purchased the royalty-free photo through a subscription with Dreamstime. I wanted to send each photographer a copy of the book displaying their work but unfortunately with 71 photos used it is financially impossible for me to do so at this time. But I do not want your work to go unrecognized so I hope the book will bring people to Dreamstime to see the wonderful photos available there.
You can see more about ‘Look Up’ on my webpage
I hope it means as much to you as it does to me seeing your photo in the book and that you or someone you know will enjoy it!

I don't know if exclusivity is the point here. Good portfolios who have 1000-2000 pictures acquire more over 20k sales. And if u get 10k US dollars for 4000 sales think about 20k or 100k sales in 3-4 years what does it mean.
So to be exclusivity is not the first goal here. Good photographers are not exclusive photographers here they extend their work on other stock agencies too.
The key is simple ... practice, work and analyzes of other very good portfolios.
And travels also don;t represent a success. U can involve a lot of money in travels without good sales here. And for some of us to travel in different countries is pretty expensive.
Work on field is important and to be creative, and so on...bring the new ideas sometimes for what u see at others.
Wow!! $10K in 2 years!! That's truly awesome! Congratulations for this 10k and the next 10k coming up. ;) We've made till today $6939- (95% withdrawn already!) but then again we've been here since 2004 with inactivity between 2004-2009 :)
