International Women's Day

posted on 8th of march, 2016

It's International Women's Day and I'm proud to say that I have been fortunate enough to participate. As a woman, and one with a visual disability, I have proven success to myself and others. I hope I can be inspirational to others who might be struggling and unsure of their abilities, to push forward if it's what you truly want.
As of today I have 1155 images for sale on Dreamstime and have sold 171 of them. Although that may not seem like grandiose numbers, when I began this pursuit, (and my greeting card business) I had no clue if I could be successful. Through perseverance and sheer desire to do something I loved, as well as the will to overcome obstacles that could be handicapping, I consider myself a success, for the mere fact that I am doing what I thought I could never do.
To all the women, on this day, best wishes to you. You can do what you set out to do.
Sincerely,
Debbie
The shots I've included don't capture the full image so feel free to check out my portfolio. It's basically the story of my life. I'm trying to see the world before I can't.

I originally just wanted to say how inspiring your words are, but when I read the last sentence I realized what a great person you are and that no words can really say what I think, only that I hope that you will be able to take heaps of more pictures and share your memories with us.

About me

Five years ago I was diagnosed with a rare degenerative eye disease; macular telangiectasia. It was devastating news but I refused to let it stop me from living my life to its fullest.
