Beautiful fall colours exist in many places but having lived in southern and eastern Ontario all my life I've been blessed with the opportunity to visit many local areas of autumn wonder.
Along with Gatineau park in Quebec, one of my favorite autumn locations is Algonquin Park. Algonquin is the oldest provincial park in Canada (founded 1893) covering some 7600 square kms of area in Ontario (One and a half times the size of Prince Edward Island!!).
This protected area is filled with some 2400 lakes and 1200 kilometres of streams and rivers and sits in a transition area between the northern coniferous and southern deciduous forests which provide and endless variety of trees, plants and wildlife to view.
Those are awesome pictures. I used to live in Toronto and visited this park several times in 90's. Did not have a digital camera at that time but your pictures ring my memories. Fall is the best time to visit as vibrant colours of falling leafs especially leafs of maple trees as spectacular and all the bugs are gone. You know what I mean, right?
